Do you have your book finished? A book you dream of publishing, but you’re not sure if it’s ready? As an author myself, I understand all the hard work you’ve poured into your story and what it means to you.

You want your book to be treated with love and care.

That’s what I’ll do. Because I understand personally what a crushing offhand remark can do.

You want it the best it can be before you send it off to your dream agent.

I’ll help you get there.

  • Have reviewed book proposals for a publishing company
  • Have attended multiple writing conferences where I participated in critique groups
  • Have critiqued multiple novels and stories for others

What I offer:

Developmental Edit: $20 per 1000 words.

I offer developmental edits, where I will read through your manuscript and give advice and suggested edits on your overall story structure. This includes world building, plot, characters, development, voice, and resolution.

What I critique:

I critique manuscripts in the following genres: young adult fantasy and science-fiction

I am not interested in critiquing manuscripts in the following genres: Children’s picture books, board books, Amish fiction, Erotica fiction, women’s fiction, historical fiction, biographies, poetry, or horror.

I am not interested in critiquing manuscripts with heavy or explicit sexual content.

I do not provide line edits.

It would take me 3-5 months to do a content edit for you. Due to work and other activities I cannot do anything faster.

Please submit your manuscript in 12 pt font, Times New Roman, 1″ margins, and double-spaced. Submit in a .doc or .docx format.

The first half of the payment will be required before I begin to read your manuscript. I will let you know when I reach the middle of your manuscript, at which point the second half of the payment is required. Payments will be made via PayPal or Venmo.

“Rebecca’s expertise has played an important role in helping me make acquisition decisions at Illuminate YA Fiction. She is passionate about the written word, portrays a diligent work ethic, and has a gift for evaluating manuscripts. I wouldn’t hesitate to trust her with my next work-in-progress!”

~ Tessa Emily Hall, YA author and acquisitions editor at Iron Stream Media

“Rebecca edited the first draft of my manuscript and she did a fantastic job pointing out how to make it stronger. I will definitely ask her to edit my second novel (whenever that’s ready!) as well. Very thorough, very professional. 10/10!”                                                                       ~ C
